How to Decorate a Wagon for the Ring Bearer for the Wedding

How to Decorate a Wagon for the Ring Bearer for the Weddingthumbnail
Add some fun to your processional.
Whether your ring bearer is too young to walk down the aisle on his own or you simply want to add a bit of country chic to your wedding, incorporating a decorated wagon is always an option. Some brides choose to have their ring bearers bring the ring down the aisle on an oversized pillow nestled inside the wagon. Others utilize wagons to have the ring bearer bring the flower girl down the aisle if she is still too young to walk. Whatever you choose, decorating the wagon to match your decor helps it match your ceremony's appearance.

Instructions

Things You'll Need

  • Tape measure
  • Wagon
  • Fabric that coordinates with your wedding colors
  • Scissors
  • Ribbons
  • Needle
  • Thread
  • Sewing machine
  • 10-inch wide roll of tulle
  • Safety pins
  • Flowers
  • Floral wire
    • 1
Measure your wagon lengthwise and widthwise. Measure from one side of the underside, over the top of the wagon and then underneath to the starting point of the measurement. When taking these measurements, include some slack across the top of the wagon to allow for the wagon's inside dip. Superimpose your measurements on your piece of fabric and cut it to size. This fabric will act as your lining for the wagon, and it will completely cover the wagon's red hue.
    • 2
Place the piece of fabric over the top of the wagon and cut a slit in the fabric to accommodate the wagon's handle. If your material unravels easily, finish the slit with a zigzag stitch.
    • 3
Remove the fabric and sew four ribbon strands on each long side and two ribbons on each short side. These ribbons should meet their symmetrical counterparts under the wagon, so ensure that they are long enough before making the final cut. Sew the ribbons in place. You may either do this by hand or with the assistance of a sewing machine.
    • 4
Place the cover over the top of the wagon and tie the ribbons on the underside. Unwrap the roll of tulle and attach it to the fabric where the handle slit is located. Secure it with a safety pin. Drape the tulle around the outside of the wagon until you reach the opposite side of the handle, using safety pins to secure the festoons of tulle at regular intervals; 4-inch festoons usually work well.
    • 5
Remove the lining by untying the ribbons. Sew the tulle festoons to the lining fabric and place it back on the wagon. To tie the wagon into your wedding decor, select a few bunches of flowers like the ones in your bouquet and attach them to the tulle gathers using floral wire. Tuck the wire ends under the flowers to prevent them from appearing too noticeable.
    • 6
Wrap another length of tulle around the handle. Wrap it going up, then around the handle and finally back down to the base where you began. Tie a bow at the base where the handle meets the wagon to keep the tulle secure and add a bit of panache.

How to Decorate Bubble Containers for Weddings

How to Decorate Bubble Containers for Weddingsthumbnail
Bubbles add a whimsical touch to the wedding.
Bubbles have become an increasingly popular trend for weddings. The bubbles can be distributed to wedding guests and used in lieu of the traditional throwing of rice at the newlyweds as they exit the ceremony. Instead of sprinkling flowers on the aisle as she leads the way for the bride, the flower girl can instead blow bubbles for a whimsical touch. Regardless of the exact scenario, decorating the bubble containers to coincide with the wedding theme allows you to add a personal touch to a small but noticeable detail of the ceremony.

50s Inspired Wedding Favors

Create wedding favors decorated like jukeboxes for guests.

A 1950s-themed wedding and reception may mean decorations of fine china, cupcakes decorated with flowers, a white tuxedo for the groom, and beaded decorations and accessories. Brides and grooms can also extend the '50s theme to party favors. Look to photographs of relatives who married in the 1950s, or watch television shows from that era to get ideas for your wedding day.

  1. Edible Favors

    • Colorful lollipops double as a festive decoration and a tasty treat for wedding guests. Candy apples, sweethearts, Pez candies, pastel Necco wafers, penny candies, decorated cupcakes or a slice of apple pie all conjure up memories of the 1950s. Baked cookies inserted into wrappers depicting the bride and groom's names and wedding date also follow the 1950s theme.

    Candle Favors

    • While brides and grooms can purchase novelty candles shaped like jukeboxes, records or 1950s popcorn containers, crafty couples can also paint white, unscented candles to resemble icons of the decade. Use acrylic paint to decorate the top of a candle like a record. Paint a white or clear square candle holder with red and white stripes. Add the word "Popcorn" to the candle holder in black. Or paint a jukebox onto a candle holder. Include the bride and groom's wedding date and other pertinent information. Another option is to adorn the candle holder with lyrics from a favored 1950s song or lines from a classic movie or television show.

    Music

    • Create a compilation CD for guests featuring music from popular artists of the 1950s, such as Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby and Ritchie Valens. Love songs from those artists include Presley's "All Shook Up" or "Can't Help Falling in Love with You." Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away" or Ritchie Valen's "La Bamba" also make a perfect contribution to the disc. Decorate the CD's jewel case or the CD itself to look like a record.

    Other Wedding Favor Ideas

    • Small gumball machines filled with colorful gumballs can entertain children. Dolls, toy cars, jars of bubbles, candy-flavored lip gloss or red or pink nail polish are options for female guests, while men's hair products, such as Vitalis hair tonic and Pomade, may also be given away as favors. Inscribed Frisbee toys are another retro option that maintain the '50s party favor theme.
