How to Make a Wedding Shadowboxthumbnail
Collect wedding keepsakes to display in a shadowbox.

After all the planning, preparation and parties, you and your spouse have said "I do" and gotten married. Preserve your wedding keepsakes and display them for years to come by creating a wedding shadowbox. Unlike traditional picture frames, this deep-set frame is designed to showcase three-dimensional objects inside its protective glass case. Use some of your wedding memorabilia to create a wedding display in a shadowbox you can hang on the wall.

Instructions

Things You'll Need

  • Paper
  • Picture
  • Cards
  • Fabric
  • Ribbon
  • Glue
  • Wedding memorabilia
  • Flower sealer
  • Tape
  • Epoxy glue
  • Fishing line
  • Foam block
  • Stickers
  • Sequins and rhinestones
    • 1
Remove the backing of the shadowbox. This is where you will attach all of the papers, pictures and objects of the display.
    • 2
Create a background for the display on the frame's backing. Use glue to adhere decorative paper that matches the colors and theme of your wedding. Or make a collage of pictures from the big day or cards you received with gifts. Fabric, crumpled tissue paper and ribbon can also serve as decorative backgrounds for the display.
    • 3
Lay out and arrange the pictures and keepsakes that you want to include in the shadowbox on the frame's backing. This memorabilia might include your wedding invitation, party favors and favorite wedding photos. Display dried flowers from your wedding bouquet too, by spraying the blossoms with a flower sealer. Ensure each item can fit inside the shadowbox without being pressed against the front glass. Place all the items in a design that is visually pleasing without being overcrowded.
    • 4
Attach the items to the shadowbox backing. Use a double-sided tape or glue to adhere picture and papers. Larger items can be held in place with an epoxy glue. To temporarily attach an object to the display, tie a piece of clear fishing wire around it and hang the other side of the wire over the top edge of the backing, taping it in place on the other side. Add a piece of foam to the back of an item to elevate it from the backing and bring it to the forefront of the design.
    • 5
Add adornments to the wedding shadowbox to further the theme and feel of the display. Place stickers, sequins and rhinestones on the display. Glue a paper border around photographs or invitations. Tie a bow with ribbon and attach it to the backing.
    • 6
Put the backing on the shadowbox frame and secure it in place.

  • Tips & Warnings
