Add some fun to your processional.
Whether your ring bearer is too young to walk down the aisle on his own or you simply want to add a bit of country chic to your wedding, incorporating a decorated wagon is always an option. Some brides choose to have their ring bearers bring the ring down the aisle on an oversized pillow nestled inside the wagon. Others utilize wagons to have the ring bearer bring the flower girl down the aisle if she is still too young to walk. Whatever you choose, decorating the wagon to match your decor helps it match your ceremony's appearance.

  • Tape measure
  • Wagon
  • Fabric that coordinates with your wedding colors

  • Safety pins

  • Floral wire

Measure your wagon lengthwise and widthwise. Measure from one side of the underside, over the top of the wagon and then underneath to the starting point of the measurement. When taking these measurements, include some slack across the top of the wagon to allow for the wagon's inside dip. Superimpose your measurements on your piece of fabric and cut it to size. This fabric will act as your lining for the wagon, and it will completely cover the wagon's red hue.
    • 2
Place the piece of fabric over the top of the wagon and cut a slit in the fabric to accommodate the wagon's handle. If your material unravels easily, finish the slit with a zigzag stitch.
    • 3
Remove the fabric and sew four ribbon strands on each long side and two ribbons on each short side. These ribbons should meet their symmetrical counterparts under the wagon, so ensure that they are long enough before making the final cut. Sew the ribbons in place. You may either do this by hand or with the assistance of a sewing machine.
    • 4
Place the cover over the top of the wagon and tie the ribbons on the underside. Unwrap the roll of tulle and attach it to the fabric where the handle slit is located. Secure it with a safety pin. Drape the tulle around the outside of the wagon until you reach the opposite side of the handle, using safety pins to secure the festoons of tulle at regular intervals; 4-inch festoons usually work well.
    • 5
Remove the lining by untying the ribbons. Sew the tulle festoons to the lining fabric and place it back on the wagon. To tie the wagon into your wedding decor, select a few bunches of flowers like the ones in your bouquet and attach them to the tulle gathers using floral wire. Tuck the wire ends under the flowers to prevent them from appearing too noticeable.
    • 6
Wrap another length of tulle around the handle. Wrap it going up, then around the handle and finally back down to the base where you began. Tie a bow at the base where the handle meets the wagon to keep the tulle secure and add a bit of panache.
